You can expect a very clean and bright cup from this beautiful estate in the Nilgiris District.
Nilgiri teas are known for their aromatic, and deep dark, almost fruity notes. The majority of Nilgiri teas are produced on large plantations, in the Blue Mountains region of Southern India.
The Thiashola Tea Estate, where this tea comes from, is an entirely Organic plantation, located at 6,000-7,000 ft above sea level. It's home to many animals, including birds, elephants, panthers, hyenas, and black Langur monkeys.
This tea has more citrus notes, and a touch of curry spice on the finish. It has a very silky mouthfeel, with a savory malt finish. You'll find that preparing this in a teapot with a cover, will produce richer, darker, and more robust flavors. More spice notes will emerge in the resteeps.
How to Prepare:
Mug (8oz water):1.5 level tsp • 205º • Steep for 3 min.
Teapot: (8oz water): 2 level tsp • 205º • Steep for 2 min.
Resteep:1 time for 3 min.
Add: dairy/nut milk and/or sweetener to taste
Covered teapots retain more heat, therefore the Teapot method requires less time for steeping.
Add more tea to your taste to make the tea richer or stronger, rather than leaving the tea to steep longer than directed.
